CRAZY HOPE
The clouds, laden and drooping, roughly touched the sharp-pointed boards of the fence. It started to rain. Heavy rags fell, resembling feathers. Suddenly he got scared, these huge snowflakes were pieces of lime. He wanted to get away, but didn’t have the strength. He was dizzy, as if smoke was coming out of the stove. Why don’t they rattle on the shed’s roof, on the pyramid of firewood, around the faucet? Not a sound comes from the outside…
CHASING THE DRAGON
A king fell ill and was told that only living water would help him get better. He sent off his three sons to search for it. The older one and the second one were unlucky, but the third one succeeded. On his return he freed his brothers who had meanwhile been enslaved, and together they headed home. On the road they got thirsty, found a well without a bucket and decided to tie one of them with their waist belts and lower him down the well. Who, who? The youngest one agreed, placed the bottle with living water on the ground, next to his fur cap and entered the well. He took water for his brothers and when they had to take him out, they threw their belts into the well and went away with the living water.
And what do you say to that!
THROUGH THE ECOLOGICAL LABYRINTH
I ran to the forest, but there were only darkened stumps instead. In place of the limpid stream, a tarry river was overflowing its banks. The rose bushes, the orchids and the magnolias have turned into scorched stubble. There were no deer, no parrots and cheetahs. Only the dodo birds (didn’t they go extinct long time ago?) walked on the ashen grass. I reached panting the pond with the goldfish and bent down to quench my thirst, but a carp as huge as a three-storey building came out of the water and opened his mouth to swallow me. I heard the thunderous laughter again. The mountain swayed and crumbled, only snapping taluses remained. The giant manikin squeezed the tailed one in his grasp and seemed to suck it in. It licked its lips hungrily and raised its arms to the sun again. I felt that this was a crucial moment and I even stopped running from the carp which rather briskly chased me along the banks helping himself with his side and back fins.
